We have been working on a way to ensure that we get better at what we do. Jon and I have decided that not only will the "owners" of the business look at every show before it goes out, but let the actors, crew and selected other see the rough cuts of the episode. This is in hopes of improving the value, quality and catch the smaller things.
One of the problems of editing is that after working so long with a peice you miss the small things. Our skills increase exponetially, but at some point your brain turns off to the smaller problems. My current proble is sound! On board mics kill us, the boom mics sometimes don't get the clear or loud enough sound, and we dont have LAV mics yet. So I struggle with each episode to get thing good enough to release.
I really wish I knew more, I am looking into sound editing software but am still new enough at this that the learning curve will be tough at first.
O well, we release Episode 7 of 1337 this week... I hope people enjoy!
We have yet to do something like this. Math Club Productions is offering a interesting chance. Come join us on the set as we finish filming one of the episodes for "1337". This is a chance to be a walk on for the show and learn what it has taken to produce a show of this magnitude.
Well be shooting at the World Cup Coffee Shop in Richmond, VA on Wednesday the 20th of September. The shoot starts at 6pm and will end around 8pm.
