Thanks and have a Happy New Year!
Hope you enjoy... #5 will be released soon.
Well the show doesn't really air until April of next year, but till then you can catch snippets and "viral videos of the newest show from MCP TV; High Maintenance.
Right now you can see these viral videos at several location. The best is Lulu.tv ( MCP LuLu). At Lulu you can see most of our short shows and the trailers for the longer shows. We have been posting there and so far have found it ok. If you encounter any troubles please email me and will try and see what I can do about it.
Another way you can get into the, High Maintenance "wave of craziness is to join Gil Buchanan's MySpace Page; Gil's MySpace Page.
As for other production notes:
"Between Floors" by Alli fro Hak.5, is going swimmingly. We had some trouble the last weekend with sicknesses sweeping the cast, but have finished with two out of the three secondaries for filming (except voice overs). The Elevator scenes have been going awesome. The first day was driven by Wess from hak.5 and the daily's come out pretty good. he second day of shooting was the one mired with sickness. But we continued and got a lot done under Steven and I's watchful eye. The best part was the elevator was actually finished this time so we got to play with some angles. You can check here for some of the pictures on my MoBlog.
1337 - Episode 9 - Well we re-shot some of the fight scenes, problem is it is sunny and no rain. I will try and find some post that will make it look the same. The second fight scene came out better. JR and Tom came out swinging and some of their antics made me squirm to watch. Overall I am happy with the progress and hope to have a episode out soon, or at least a trailer.
Most other Productions have been put on break until January. We will finish of the first season of Starbuskj during that time, add another Chez Geek and possibly get another Capt E and Mr. M in. till them keep watching our stuff and keep a smile on your face!
So at work I was given a gift card to were I work. $150 sound like a lot of money, but for the things I really need it wouldn't even touch that. So I did what ever red blooded American, self serving person would do. Bought something for myself, well I try and tell myself that it is for the house (since I don't own a PS2), but thats really a cop out.
So you ask what did I buy myself, well I guess you can read the banner and figure that little mystery out. Yes I broke down and got Guitar Hero II with two wireless guitars. I rolled home and called out to friends to share in my wealth but none of them could hear the calling of the rock gods with in them. I hastily took out the guitar and loaded up the game. Three hours later, with wrist in almost cramped paralysis my roommate came to find me staring at the TV.
I had just attempted my first medium song and boy did I suck. THREE buttons made it ok, but adding a fourth kick my ass. I don't want to even think of using a fourth.
So I put the guitar to rest. Only to think about my next few days off and how far and how much closer I can come to being my own private rock god.
I was highly reluctant to even go to the new movie. I know every new Bond is a chance to get it right. Dalton was ok, Moore I was never impressed about, Lazenby was in the best (but not the best), Brosnan was a joke, and COnnery was king (until now).
Daniel Criag brought out a whole new Bond. One that I might add had dimensions that now other actor or director has tried to reach. Lazenby had his chance with the best written of the Bond films, but fell short.
What can I say about this film. GO SEE IT! By far the best Bond flick for many years. What encourages me to make this statement? First that lack on non-stop action was the best. While I am a junkie for the fights and the car driving, I found the story was able to really replace the need for that and did it in trumps.
The acting was good, strong preformances from most fo the cats made this a movie that was exciting and plot driven. Unlike some of the past Bond movies where the action drives the plot into the grave.
My only flaw with the movie was use of Texas Hold'em over Baccarat. This was the Bond game. It is also a game of man vs man, while Hold'em is a watered down common game. Baccarat was the princes way of playing the game and looking good while doing it. This is a trivial thing and I was able to overlook it with the stunning back grounds, good plot line and strong character acting.
Go See this movie!
It has been awhile since I have ranted about shows that I watch, so here it goes;
Battlestar Galactica - most likely the best written and profoundly the best acted of shows currently on air. If you haven't seen this show then I forgive you for not being the uber geek that I am. If you have been keeping up or even following behind the scenes, it's simply maddening. The plot lines have become so tangled and knotted that I have lost track of some of them. This latest episode I must say was the best I have every seen come from the writers and cast. SO often we have shows that have our upstanding good guys fall from grace, but as always they pick themselves up and dust themselves off. Far from that in this show. Adama's crash into drain of fate is second to Tye's. One reason I like this show is the act it's more a story about characters then a sci-fi about lasers and machines. I find myself astounded by the myriad of stories and possible futures that could come from actions being portrayed. The plot lines I most wnat to see; Kara resolve her issue with her husband, Tye come back to the bridge, and Why hasn't Gauis been killed? It simply tortures me that I can not tell what they producers or writers are going to throw my way. This show is by far of of the most complex shows out there.
Smallville - When I first heard that they would be having a few "guest" appearances on the show I was excited, well ok I almost creamed myself. Yes I am that much of a comic geek. First I was happy to see Green Arrow come into play. Last season was a very week and I dare to say troublesome season. One that I thought might spell the end. So far this season has been nothing but strong stories and even stronger appearances. As in my last blog I talked about all the appearances. This season is now gearing up to have a second appearance from one of the JLA's lesser know hero's, Jonz Jonzz or the Martian Manhunter. The Oreo, eating martian is from the old school of the JLA. A simpler times when heros were basically impervious and super. So adding him in a more darker and possibly leadership role is very interesting. BTW if the writers are reading this here are a few ideas about the next few appearances, FIRST BATMAN, uh duh!, 2. Wonder Woman, 3.Green Lantern (I dont care which one either), 4. The Specter, but the last one would never make it... Also (to said writers and producers) what about a show based on the New Gods Comic book with a merger of the show the OC meets The New Gods. Just mull that over. Teen angst, meets super power and the evil they must fight all tangled with dealing with stuffy parents. Ok I'm done...
Well if you like these show great. If you have never seen these shows, stop pretending you have a life and don't watch TV. Turn the channel from "America's Top Model" and watch some good TV>
So it's been awhile and I am sorry I haven't really been in touch with many of you. Here is all the latest news.
Math Club Productions- We have been working hard to get some new projects started and are happy to say we are starting to see the chance to make his a life's ambition. We have been working with a local promoter who has redirected his vision towards doing an online network. With these new direction we have been given the chance to be "his" companies production company. We are honored and humbled but think this might be the chance. The future is the only way to tell.
can be seen here. For one of the first times I am generally happy with our product. Don't get me wrong, I like other episodes, but this was the first we did on our own. Danny Eckler and several other have kudos to be given for the new style and feel of the show. With new cast members making their debut as well. Nathan Hughes (aka Garrett Bower) wrote and co-directed this one. I look forward to the next one but think this will be one of my favorites for now.We start on Ali's movie soon, we have had to many set backs. Loss of location, no of actresses. It seems like this is going to be a major choir, but then we are reminded that we have done this before and come out with great things. I only hope people will like this short as much as I see it being a great piece of work.
My life - well I started the new job. I became one of the top 10 sales person with-in a week of starting. Most are saying it's beginners luck but the other guy and I hired at the same time seem to be getting the right treatment fro the supervisors. I like the job and have had only a few moments were I wish could have reached through a phone, but as they say,"arguing on a phone is like winning a jello contest, who really wins anything?"
The Canal Club has been busy and I with it. I have decided to take a weekend off from them to get healthy and take some time to myself.
Games -
Gears of War - OH MY GOD! Not being a fan of the first person shooter I still picked this up. I mean how could I pass on what was supposed to be the PS3 killer. This game is most likely the best to date for the 360. I usually get tired of shooter after a day or two (except for Ghost Recon)
The Graphics are to die for, litterally, I have died several times looking around to see everything. The AI is sick and I am playing on easy mode. These enemies hide, use cover and even will flank!
This is a must buy and for those of you with-out 360's a reason to buy one now.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance - I have been waiting for this game for awhile. It is very similar to X-Men Legends. There are enough differences that make the game seem new. The biggest things is the characters. I love some of the characters they have included. Cage, Deadpool, Moon Knight, Daredevil some of my favorites. I can't wait to unlock Ghost Rider!
The graphics aren't the best but hey it's the game play and the online play that has attracted me to this game. Playing online is great, either co-op or arcade style, which ever is fun and never gets boring to me.
Ok well I have ranted for while and think it might be time to be quiet for awhile.... If you like the new episode of 1337, please send feedback!
Well every once in awhile I spew about some new show(s) that have me mesmerized. So here is the next rant about two such shows.
Heroes - is an incredible jaunt into the world of comics and super-hero's. When I first heard about this show I thought it might be something akin to the horrible 70's and 80's attempts to do super-heroes shows. I have wished that it might be as good as Smallville, but worried that to much of a good thing might cause and overload. The show is four deep into the story and so far the show has really blown away all expectations. The story is a compelling and colorful story. Mixing comic book like story boards with live action TV shows. I struggle to see any other show that has writing on the par of this show. The ideas and plot lines are intricate and ever expanding. Watch at your own risk, the risk of being trapped in anew addictive show.
Studio 60: Another Aaron Sorkin production. The show was big before it even started. I hesitated before starting to watch the show because of the hype. I watched the first few episodes and found myself wrapped up in the stories. What I found even more intriguing is that Matthew Perry is actually a good actor. This show has all the potential of the 'West Wing' with even more story and ways to grow. The cast is most likely one of the best on stage. If you like SNL, MADD TV or any of the other sketch comedy shows, this is a great look at the production of one of these shows. I look forward to have what I will deem the "guilty pleasure' pick of the season.
